Obama backlash

He’s moving, as all general election candidates, but especially a general election candidate who happens to be a black man named Barack Obama, must: to the middle. All of us moderate to far-left liberals — I would say this demographic makes up about 95 percent of Tumblr users — had better get used to it. Because this is how he’s going to win.
I agree that it’s how he’s going to win, but if it’s also how he’s going to govern, then progressives are right to be concerned. The idea of “President Obama as symbol” is intriguing and has real value, but it needs to be reconciled against the reality, or at this point, at least the perception of “President Obama as president”.
Having said that, there’s no point harping on this stuff too strenuously now; it only helps the other side (who are much, much worse). That’s my main gripe (among plenty of others) with the radical left right now.
